November 13th, 2009
Morgan and I headed downtown about 3:45. Met Tina at the max station and walked to her dorm. We got all our things together and went down to the venue about 5. We were pretty close to the front of the line for getting there that late. Doors opened at 6. We got in quick. I had never been to the Roseland before. You have to go through a metal detector and have everything searched and get patted down. I also had my sharpie taken away. Lame.
I didn’t want to be in the front. We were pretty close though. I was expecting far more people though.
At 7ish, The Friday Night Boys came on. I love Andrew’s new haircut. I really like them live.
Hey Monday was on next. They always put on a good show. I like seeing them. Cassadee’s voice live is just incredible. There was a point in their set where Jersey and Mike were right next to each other and Jersey mouthed, “I want you in my pants” to Mike. I think I was the only one that caught that. Their new drummer made some really bad drummer faces. They were definite orgasm faces.
We The Kings was third. I really like them live. I had never seen them before until last night. Before Secret Valentine, they were like, “Do you want to hear a song all about intercourse?” hahahahaha.
Lastly, All Time Low. Their intro was blinding but really entertaining. People had been saying they might cut their set short because Alex was so sick. They started playing and Alex was so sweaty that it looked like he just got out of the shower. After the first song, Jack said that he had sad news and they would have to cut their set short due to Alex’s illness. He apparently woke up with a 102 degree temperature. Between songs, Alex would turn around from the crowd and just kinda sit there. After about 4 songs, Alex ran off stage and threw his guitar at Danny. He went to go barf. Then Andrew came on and played a song. Jack then said, “Sorry we suck.” Jack then asked the crowd who could sing and play Dammit. The kid they brought up was incredible. It was amazing. Jack said something about “coming back sooner then you think”. I wonder what that means. Then they played Dear Maria and Cassadee and Andrew and Jersey and Mike all came out for that one. That was the end. There was absolutely no crowd surfing. It was so odd.
After the show, we all went outside and it was nice and cold. We waited around and then security were being idiots and telling us to move and stop loitering. So we moved to the other side of the street. After awhile, there was a crowd by the fence so we went over. It turned out that Jack had convinced security to let him sign things. Cassadee, Mike and Alex Lipshaw were out too. We went to Jack first. During their set, Jack had said that no one in Portland had ever kissed him. So Tina had the bright idea to tell him she was of age and she would kiss him. He then replied saying he wasn’t allowed to kiss her but he would love a kiss on the cheek. It was really adorable. We went over to Hey Monday (minus Jersey) and they were super nice. I didn’t get any pictures because they were behind a fence (that was the only way security would let them do it). I got all their autographs though. Jack singed my sisters thing “JB =)” Now, I think of the Jonas Brothers each time I look at it.
Girls were crying because Alex (Gaskarth) wasn’t coming out. Why would you want him to come out? He barfing and has a fever (pretty sure he has swine flu). First of all, how selfish. Secondly, would you want to come and meet a bunch of clingy girls when you just feel like dying? I wouldn’t.
